Key topics for investors during fundraising due diligence in 2025
During the fundraising due diligence process, cash management emerged as the top priority for investors, with 28.4% of respondents highlighting it as a key area of focus. This underscores the importance of how funds manage liquidity and handle cash flows in an increasingly volatile market environment.
Cyber security followed closely, with 27.0% of investors placing significant emphasis on the protection of data and digital infrastructure. With cyber threats on the rise, investors are keen to ensure that funds have robust safeguards in place to protect sensitive information.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues remain a concern, as 20.7% of respondents pointed to ESG as a key topic during due diligence, which reflects the ongoing pressure on fund managers to integrate responsible investing practices in their strategies.
Other topics of importance include outsourcing, cited by 16.7% of respondents, which suggests that investors are scrutinising how and where fund managers delegate key operational functions. Lastly, domicile choice was highlighted by 7.2% of respondents, showing that while it remains relevant, it is less of a primary concern compared to other operational aspects.
